Spring is finally here, and that means it’s time to look over your car to see if it needs to be maintained. April is national car care month, so it’s a great time to do some TLC for your car so that it’s ready for the road this spring and summer. Even if you feel your car is in great shape, you’ll still want to get it serviced to avoid costly repairs in the future. Check out the checklist below on what needs to be done to get your car ready.
Spring Car Care Checklist
You’ll want to use this checklist to make sure that your car is in good shape. It’ll help you identify problems now and help you avoid large expenses in the future:
Check all fluids
Ideally, check your oil every time you fill up your car with gas. But if you don’t, you’ll want to get it checked now to see if it needs a change. You don’t want to go on the highway if you’re low on oil. You’ll also want to check the windshield wiper fluids and the coolant, brake and transmission fluids. These fluids are essential to keep the vehicle running in good shape.
Check battery and any leaks
It’s important to check your battery after a long winter because sometimes batteries can have issues. If it’s older than three years old, replace it. You’ll also want to check for leaks around your vehicle, such as exhaust leaks and more.
Check tire pressure
If you live in a 4 season climate, this means you’ll be changing your tires soon. When you do, you will need to check the tire pressure in your summer tires. If it seems really worn down, you’ll want to replace your tires as soon as possible.
Check for additional issues
If you can, check all of your lighting in the car to ensure that they work. You should also check your windshield wipers to ensure they work properly.
